Tech enthusiasts are likely already buzzing about the launch of the Honor Magic V5, recently unveiled during the brand’s livestreamed keynote for the Chinese market. In a media update, Honor confirmed that Singapore will be the first country outside of China to debut the Magic V5—a major milestone for the brand’s international expansion.
In China, the Honor Magic V5 starts at CNY 8,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model, with two additional variants priced at CNY 9,999 (16GB + 512GB) and CNY 10,999 (16GB + 1TB). These prices convert to approximately S$1,599, S$1,777, and S$1,955 respectively, placing them within the same pricing range as previous models. For reference, the Honor Magic V3 and Magic V2 both launched in Singapore at S$1,999 for the 512GB configuration.

One of the standout features of Honor’s book-style foldables has long been their ultra-slim design and the Magic V5 continues that legacy. This latest model measures just 8.8mm when folded and an astonishing 4.2mm when unfolded, weighing only 217g. For perspective, that’s 10g lighter than the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max (227g) and nearly as thin (8.25mm). Want a closer look? Watch the video below.
The Honor Magic V5 packs impressive engineering to deliver a thinner, more durable foldable phone. A key contributor is its ultra-slim 6,100mAh battery, achieved with a dual-layer design measuring just 0.18mm per layer, roughly the width of a human hair. Adding to its sleekness is a high-strength “special fibre”, similar to that used in astronaut suits, measuring only 0.014mm and forming the phone’s “golden soft silk armour” back. This material offers 40x more impact resistance than Honor’s previous foldables.
The Super Steel Hinge, crafted with AI precision manufacturing, features 500 micro-elements and an accuracy of 0.03mm, making it both durable and slim. Under the hood, the Magic V5 runs on the full 8-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite, unlike competitors like the OPPO Find N5 which use a 7-core version.
Camera-wise, it boasts a powerful triple-lens setup: a 50MP main camera, 64MP periscope telephoto (3x optical zoom), and 50MP ultrawide, each enhanced by AI features like AI Hawkeye continuous shooting, AI telephoto tuning, and AI film simulation. The phone also features an IP58/IP59 rating, a 7.95″ main display with 5,000 nits brightness, and fast charging capabilities (66W wired, 50W wireless). The secondary display is protected by ultra-durable glass with 10x drop, 3x wear, and 15x scratch resistance, plus anti-bacterial coating, highlighting that the Magic V5 is built for strength, not just style.
